My new knitting bag!

I decided I needed something that I could carry around easily, especially since I'll be taking a week-long trip next week. Here's my new bag. I got it at Walmart, and it has plenty of room (well, for now anyways...hee hee). Just thought I'd share it.

My "E" block--part of my alphabet blanket

Well, I finished my second block of my alphabet blanket. Again, I used the pattern for the letter from www.knittingknonsense.com. I used Red Heart kids yarn, color Jade (2680). I think this is going to turn out ok.

I'm going to knit a few dishcloths before starting on the next letter. I need to get some more Red Heart yarn before I can continue. I figure this year for Christmas gifts I"ll be giving dishcloths, so I better get started now. :)

We're heading out to a yarn shop in town tomorrow to see if we can find any good yarns. Hopefully I come back with some good ones. hee hee

I feel I must say this--my table is not green! I had to mess with the colors a bit to get the D to show up on the block. Ok, I feel better now...onto the post. hee hee

I finished my first letter for my alphabet blanket. I used Red Heart Super Saver yarn for this. I'm a little worried about making all the letters and then not being able to piece them together correctly. I don't know why my sides seem a bit wonky. I'm hoping that washing it a few times will make it look a bit better. I'm not really sure how I'm going to proceed with this. I guess I can knit up a few more and try to knit them together. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! :)

Baby bib is complete!!! YAY!!!

Well, after working on this for 3 or 4 days (wasn't knitting very long each day), I finally got it done! I had a little trouble making the holes to for the button to go through, but you can't really tell. One hole I YO the wrong way and so the hole isn't very "tidy" looking. Still very functional. I used this pattern from the Original KnitList. I think I casted on 30 stitches. I used Caron Wintuk yarn. The color is Baby Rainbow Ombre 3527. It's 100% acrylic, and I didn't really like the feel of it as I started knitting, but it seemed to soften up as I knitted with it. I'm going to try making a few more bibs and using different stitches in the middle (or maybe making a picture in the middle). I'll be working on that when taking breaks from my next project. I'm going to make an alphabet blanket. I found a site that has the alphabet in blocks, and I'm going to make each letter and then piece them together to make a blanket. It should be interesting. I figure if I do each block by itself, I can't get too bored/frustrated with how long the project is taking. That's all from me for tonight. :)

Non-knitting related....

Well, I didn't get to knit at all this weekend (and I had been sure I would find time). I was a bridesmaid in my friend Kat's wedding. I just wanted to share a picture from the wedding. This is me and my husband, David.

Hopefully I'll have some more knitting pics to show off in the next few days. I won't have much time to knit tonight, but I am pooped from the weekend!!

Seed Stitch Heart Dishcloth

Well, this one took me two days to complete (yay!). I got much closer to gauge this time. It was suppose to be a 9" square, and I think I got it to be 8 1/2" wide and 7 1/2" long. I don't know how I can get it to be any looser to hit gauge. Maybe my yarn was just too thin? Once again, I used the Peaches & Creme yarn (#179 Aqua Mist Ombre) and size 8 needles. This pattern was from "Love to Knit Dishcloths" by Evelyn A. Clark, published by Leisure Arts.

I'm thinking my next project will be a bib for a friend who is pregnant. I bought a lot of yarn to make baby stuff for her (well, mostly a blanket), but the yarn is kinda coarse, so I don't want to make a blanket out of it. I figure I'll make a few bibs, wash them, and see how they turn out. If the yarn softens up, I'll use it for a blanket. I also downloaded some patterns for some soakers, so hopefully in a month or so I'll be brave enough to make a few soakers for Dalton. I have some beautiful wool yarn just dying to be used for something. :) Of course, I'll have to make a practice soaker first on some not-so-great yarn (hee hee). Ok, enough ramblings from me for the day. Happy knitting!!

Sprained ankles are good for knitting.....

Well, I sprained my ankle pretty good this weekend, and the doc took me off of work until Thursday. So I had a few hours to knit this afternoon while Dalton (and hubby) were napping. I'm a little over a third done with another dishcloth (had to restart it three times--lost the last stitch each time on the third row, so I just started over). I'm going to head back and do some more knitting here in a few and get my foot back up. I have to remember it's not a good thing to knit with a little one around. Dalton decided to scribble on my pattern, try taking my needles, and carried the yarn around the room (while I was still using it). Silly boy. I figured I needed to do a few more small-scale projects before starting on an baby blanket I want to make (plus the yarn I bought for it seems kinda rough, so I might have to buy some new stuff). Hopefully tomorrow I'm posting a picture of my newest creation. Nighty night!

Purled Heart dishcloth

Here's my second knit project. This one only took me 4 days to complete. Granted, I'm only getting about an hour a night to knit, but I think I'm getting quite a bit done in that short amount of time. This one was a pattern I got from the Love to Knit Dishcloths booklet by Evelyn A. Clark (published by Leisure Arts). This was #9 Purled Heart. I'm going to have to try this pattern again with a solid color to see how the heart turns out. It was a very easy first pattern, with only knit and purl stitches. Again, I used the Peaches & Creme yarn, #203 (Faded Glory). I was able to make the first dishcloth and this one both with just one ball of yarn (and still have a little left over). I can tell my stitches were too tight in places on this one, but I don't think I did too bad a job.

My first knit project!

Well, here was my first ever knit project! It took me about a week to complete. It's just a little dishcloth, made with the stocknette stitch. I know I made a mistake and have a little hole in it, and I finally think I know what I did wrong there. Overall, I don't think I did too bad. I used Peaches & Creme yarn on it. The color was Faded Glory (#203). I'm donating this dishcloth to my parent's trailer supplies. It may not be the prettiest, but it'll work. :-)

I can't believe I have a blog......

Hello hello! I figured I would create a space to show off my newest hobby--knitting! This may get updated daily (keeping track of how far I've gotten on a project), or it may just get updated when projects are done, or possibly a little bit of both. If you see a project you like, feel free to ask me for the pattern. Most of the ones I have I've gotten free online. I'll try posting links with the finished project. If you're wanting to learn to knit, there are tons of great resources out there. LMK and I'll hook you up with some! I think that's enough for now.
